Have you ever had times when you felt very very small?  Sometimes parents get that feeling when they look into the face of their newborn child, and their hearts fill up with wonder.  They think about the years ahead, about their responsibilities and they feel very small.

Sometimes we can get this eerie feeling of smallness, as we think about the universe, stretching as it does for infinite miles.  Sometimes one gets the feeling of smallness too, when they think of the billions of people who have been born and are living right now, bigger wiser, more capable than you could ever hope to be.  One man all by himself in the world can feel very small and insignificant.

Sometimes this feeling of smallness is felt when we are face to face with some crippling disease or death.  And it can turn into a feeling of utter helplessness.  There are some people who are saying that space-exploration is also helping to increase this feeling of loneliness and smallness.  As we send our men to the moon, and encircle other planets; we discover that we are all alone in this universe.  And what a small, insignificant feeling this can give to a person.

I sent this sense of smallness, helplessness, purposelessness, the cause of so many troubles today, I think it is!  A person finds it hard to figure out what his life is all about, when he sees himself in the middle of billions of people, trillions and quadrillions of miles of spaces and assorted planets; stars, suns, and other newly discovered heavenly bodies.  We don’t talk about it very much.  But this feeling of smallness gets us after a couple of decades, down here on this planet.  It makes it difficult to make sense out of life.  It leaves us stunned and feeling so insignificant.

But this is one of the greatest teachings of the Bible; that while in the light of the planet and stars; we are small and insignificant, in the eyes of God we are more important than all the planets, suns, moon, stars, constellations and galaxies put together.

The Bible tells us that God knows us as well as individuals that the very hairs o our heads are numbered.  He knows you name, your address, your phone number.  He even knows how much money you have in the bank.  You are so special to God he thinks so much about you, that the Bible says this.  “God so loved the world (now that world means you, and I).  God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”  The Bible also says this; “God commended (God proved) His love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  Oh yes we are small in comparison to God’s creation, but we are not insignificant when it comes to His love.  He loves us so much that he gave His very best to save us from death and hell.  He gave His only Son to die for us.

In case you may still think we are all insignificant creatures, listen to these words of our Lord found in Isaiah 57:5 “I dwell in the high and holy place and with Him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit.”

God wants to live within our hearts!  God wants to make Himself real to us.   And becomes the very center of our lives.  And how does one get to know our God in such a precious and personal way?  By surrendering their life over to His Son Jesus Christ.

The opportunity is yours today.  Invite Christ into your heart right now, and make Him the center of your life.  Even though God is so immense and so immeasurable that the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him, yet He is small enough to live within your heart, and become the dearest friend you ever had.

Call upon Christ right now; He is only a prayer away.  It is only with Christ living in our hearts, that we realize, while we may be very very small in regards to God’s creation, we are very very precious in His sight.

He’s Big Enough to Fill the Mighty Universe But  Small Enough to Live Within Your Heart!

 Be Blessed,
