If The Resurrection Was False What Advantage Did It Give The Disciples To Say It Was True?
“During the forty days after his crucifixion, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.” (Acts 1:3, NLT)
Jesus died a gruesome death. Crucifixion was designed to make one’s death as long and painful as possible. Almost all of Jesus disciples died a gruesome death for spreading the gospel of His death, burial, resurrection and coming again. It is very unlikely that his apostles would die in such horrible manners to preach a lie.
Sure you and I who live 2000 years’ after the fact have to take it by Faith
But all of life is stepping into faith
Faith is the substance of things hoped for – Our Hope is in the resurrection. As stated in the Resurrection chapter 1 Corinthians Chapter 15, if the resurrection is not true, then our preaching and faith is in vain and we are the most miserable. But. . . if not . . .
The secular minded, who doubt the resurrection and the Bible, don’t really understand how much faith they exhibit in scientist and historians everyday. How many things have been taught to students for ages, and how many interpretations of history have been taught as truth – just because some historians think so, – and then proven wrong. Example, Einstein’s cosmological constant.
The secular elitists like to have lots of facts and figures, but many times, these eventually prove false and misguided – and thus their conclusions were just a matter of faith And yet, many thought it wiser to believe their charts and graphs than the written Word of God.
Just because someone has a lot of Hope-so’s and May-be so’s and Guess so’s doesn’t make it So. And just because someone has a lot of theories and truth only a few witnesses, doesn’t make the truth false.
Faith is not what you want to believe, faith is always anchored in truth, grounded in reality; and upon that truth your spirit rests and rejoices. No church council or ecclesiastical conference can change the truth. Truth is reality. It is what is.
The Bible Tells Me So.
The Bible tells us that He was seen by Mary Magdalene on the day of his resurrection, that He was seen in the upper-room with his disciples, that Thomas who doubted that it was actually Jesus there in the upper room with him was directed to touch his hands and touch his side. After this Thomas fell on his knees proclaimed Jesus as, “my Lord and my God.” Jesus was on the earth for forty days after his resurrection. He showed Himself alive to as many as 500 people in one of his public appearances.

In secular history Jesus is mentioned ten different times…..Suetonius etc…
However, as amazing all these great truths are they will avail you nothing until Christ lives in you. A person with an experience is never at the mercy of a person who only has a theory. The reality of the Christ’s resurrection is only a prayer away. By faith receive Him into your heart right now.
Jesus tells us, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” (John 14:23)
As the hymn writer put it;
“You ask me how I know He lives, He lives within my heart.”
